Plot
The movie depicts a love story of a passion ignited by hatred of two people who are born to hate but destined to love. The plot of the movie builds up as the reckless yet sturdy characters Parma and Zoya cross each other's paths and eventually see one another for who they actually are. This breaks their years-long streak of hatred, instead something fragile and vulnerable starts blooming within their heart, something that they both didn’t think they were capable of. The movie further makes one question the obligation one’s family puts on them and how the family’s expectations turn them into someone who they actually are not. The protagonists here have no power to decide their own fate but risk it all for their love. At the end they do achieve true love but it costs them their lives. Their story is complete by both of them dying beside each other, in each other’s embrace for one last time.
Star Performance
Arjun’s character Pawan is supposed to be a rowdy rascal having no control and raging anger issues alongside a feisty, free-spirited Zoya both of which were well written and well performed. The actors do make the anger, hatred and need for vengeance very evident through their acting. The chemistry between the two sparks through their volatile verbal wars, spontaneous lovemaking and heated arguments as shown in the movie.
Analysis
The screenplay and direction of the movie are quite on point. The idea of social views like religion, politics, revenge, love and affection being displayed on the big screen is really interesting. The visuals of the movie range from shots in rural Indian villages to big bars and clubs. The film was worked upon by professionals in sense of its direction and production which led it to about 14 wins and 21 nominations in total. Also the riveting love-hate plot between the characters is well crafted.

Verdict
Ishaqzaade is a classic romantic tale but with a desi twist where both the protagonists are taught to hate one another for years. The story revolves around Parma and Zoya both of whom are born into politically warring families who’ve vowed to hate unto death. It is a complete entertainer not only for enemy to lovers trope fans but for all the movie lovers who enjoy dark-steamy stories leading to heartbreak and betrayal.
