Alnoor Merchant

Alnoor Merchant is a producer and marketing lead working in Bollyoowd film industry. He is one of Bollywood’s biggest social media marketers and website designer. Alnoor completed his degree in the field of commerce, but he had a passion for films, which led him to join 3WI, from where he completed his webmasters degree. Alnoor started his career as a web developer in the late 1990s. He entered Bollywood and started doing web development work for movies and even some TV serials. He worked in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He became the first person ever to create a film discussion board back in the 1990s, something that was unimaginable back in those days.

One of the other celebrated successes for Alnoor, was when he created the first-ever website for a movie. The movie was Silsila Hai Pyaar Ka released in 1999. His work at that time totally changed the landscape of Bollywood, and he basically personalized the experience of movie watching with his film discussion boards and movie websites, as the viewer could now go and watch the movie in the theatre and then later on with the internet he could discuss, and read more and more about the characters in the film.

Later in 1999, he also created MovieTalkies.com which is a Bollywood website, much like our Nettv4u, which specializes in providing Bollywood contents like movie stills, award function pictures and everything related to Bollywood movie, stars, cast and crew. Alnoor had changed the game totally. He went to the website for movies like Bend It Like Beckham, Lagan: Once Upon A Time In India, Yaadein.., Hungama, Shootout At Lokhandwala and many other Bollywood gems. His website(MovieTalkies.com) later joined hands with MSN and Yahoo, where he could go on to rapidly expand his work by providing content such as Bollywood gossip stories, interviews of celebrities and the portal also powers content on the Abu Dhabi based Etisalat communications.

In 2006, he changed the game yet again, by creating Bollywood’s first-ever movie blog for Rang De Basanti, the groundbreaking and thought-provoking movie starring Aamir Khan, where the youth absolutely adored the movie and was able to read more and more about the film on the blogs. Later in his career, Alnoor co-founded Epigram Digital Media Pvt. Ltd, a company that initiates digital campaigns for movies.
