. It is an official remake of the Hollywood hit movie, ‘Death At A Funeral’, and destroys it completely. Now that I have established that it’s a bad movie, let’s bite into it some more and explore the extents of this blunder.
Plot:
The movie is crafted around Douglas Lazarus (Sharath Saxena), who has just died. He has two sons: one is Steven (Sunil Shetty) and the other is Brian (Ashish Chowdhry), who want a good farewell for their father, and for that reason, they invite their family and friends. , announces himself as deceased Doug’s gay lover. Now, he is blackmailing the sons to give him a part in Doug’s property or he will go public about their father’s sexual preferences. That is pretty much it when it comes down, as there are a few sub plots, but they are even more absurd and downright repulsive that I won’t even go into them.
Analysis:
What to analyze in this travesty? Well, I can go on and on about the efforts of the director to turn this initially flawed movie into a comedy blockbuster, or I can ramble on and on about the unethical concept, which they used surrounding a man’s departure, or I can go even deeper and tell you about the unbelievably bad performances of the cast, if we exclude Javed Jaffrey and Sunil Shetty. The end result will be the same, it’s a dumb movie and everyone should stay away from it. Jokes fall flat and in the name of humor, we have people in undergarments. There is no depth in this movie and it has turned an optimist like me into a cynic.
Star Performances:
Sunil Shetty did a good job, which was expected from him, and Javed Jaffrey was good in few scenes too. Rest of the cast, even Rajpal Yadav, were just dreadful.
What’s there?
Nothing. Seriously, I have never come across a movie so bad. Mostly when a movie doesn’t have much to offer in the name of story, it depends on locations and songs; this damned movie has been shot in one single house! And songs, well they are tolerable at least. So if you have a weird sense of humor, you can watch it. But, if have even a shred of brain, you will be out of the theatre in the first half hour.
What’s not There?
Everything, starting with lack of story down to the lack of dialogues. I mean it’s a comedy movie for crying out loud! How come none of its jokes were even giggle worthy?
Verdict:
What I fail to comprehend is how easily we can mess up perfectly enjoyable Hollywood movies. This movie, as a whole, was a mistake that should never have happened. I will keep it brief, stay away from this horrendous… let’s call it a movie.
