Plot
New Delhi 1993, a deaf and mute guy is accused and arrested on the grounds of being a foreign spy, a sign language expert is brought as the communicator. As the investigation unfolds, it gets more confusing rather than telling the truth.
Star performance
All the actors have done a fantastic job. Aparshakti Khurana time and again proves that he’s a phenomenal actor. Ishwak Singh gets the body language of a deaf and mute guy on point. He controls the narrative without saying anything. Rahul Bose is menacing which his character demands and does an outstanding job. The supporting actors also played their parts well.
Analysis
The film is a noir thriller. It has opted for all the elements a noir film has but unfortunately it doesn't pan out like that. The film has a keen eye for detail and has excelled in that, the film has this vintage vibe which sits well with the film's tone and narrative. The actors have played their part well. Aparshakti Khurana who always has been typecast in comedic roles finally has a solid role where he can flex his acting chops and did that perfectly, Ishwak Singh another known actor from the OTT space again has put forth a strong performance, he gets the body language of a deaf and mute guy on point. Rahul Bose also leaves no stone unturned. The supporting characters have lent their support. The film has exciting parallels between history and today’s time. The cinematography is also top-notch, dully capturing Delhi. Now get to brasstacks, the film really tries to hold the attention but fails and this has a lot to do with the writing, and with the decline in the second half it just brings everything down. Some sequences are dragged to an unnecessarily extent, and with its slow pace it fails to engage the audience. The film does have moments where it builds the tension well, but the truth just falls flat. Berlin as a film succeeds in creating the tension but with a down second half and a disappointing climax lets this film down, despite the honest performances by the cast and other elements Berlin doesn't pan out to be an engaging thriller.

Verdict
Berlin has a lot of elements to go for outstanding performances, an engaging first half, great attention to detail but with a dull second half and disappointing climax it fails to hold the attention. But it can be a one-time watch for all it wants to be.
