Born in Agra, India on January 22nd, 1977, Atul Sabharwal blossomed to become a writer and a director. He gained immense recognition through ‘ Aurangzeb Click to look into! >> Read More... ,' the movie he wrote a script for and directed. It is an Indian action thriller and casted several A-list actors like Arjun Kapoor in the lead role, Swara Bhaskar, Sashaa Agha, Prithviraj Sukumaran were cast in crucial roles while Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Amrita Singh gave their best in supporting roles.

‘Aurangzeb' narrated the dark story about corruption and family ties and generated a positive response just as the trailer was released. The plot of the movie was said to be complicated, it hit the theatres on May 17th, 2013.

The film was produced under the Yash Raj Films banner and distributed by Aditya Chopra. The film is said to be a commercial success. The film gained positive critic reviews. Atul Sabharwal has contributed to Indian cinema by screenplay and dialogue for ‘Phir Milenge’ in 2004, ‘My Wife’s Murder’ in 2005, dialogues for ‘Via Darjeeling’ in 2008 and also acted in ‘ Khoya Khoya Chand Khoya Khoya Chand is a love story of a sincere, ob >> Read More... ’ in 2007.

Atul Sabharwal later went ahead to make another movie on the shoe industry in Agra titled, ‘In Their Shoes'.However, he refused to shoot the film in a typical fictional style and chose to shoot it in a documentary style since he believed that, the idea itself chooses its medium.

He also said that ‘In their Shoes' would be less exciting as a fictional movie. He teamed up with LongLiveCinema to distribute the film. In Their Shoes released on 13th March 2017 across the theatres. It seems like Atul Sabharwal is not the one to sit idle since he claimed that ‘In Their Shoes' shooting started right after ‘Aurangzeb' released and some royalties from his short films like ‘Midnight Lost and Found' helped in funding.

All did not go well for Atul Sabharwal since way back in 2001, ‘Powder' was conceptualized as a writing assignment failed to get TRPs. ‘Powder' was an Indian crime television series which aired for the first time on Sony TV on 3rd January 2010, nearly ten years after he first wrote the script.

It was about the narcotics trade in Mumbai. For ‘Powder', he had interviewed officers from Narcotics Control Bureau. In 2002, the script of ‘Powder' was rejected by Star Plus because it seemed too deep into research. The show was a critically acclaimed success, Atul Sabharwal was praised for the series’ aesthetics and story-telling and fetched him an award for screenplay writing.

Atul Sabharwal claims that due to erratic show timings, ‘Powder' failed to rake in the TRPs even though it was a perfect small-screen crime show. Atul Sabharwal was nominated at the Apsara Film Producers Guild Awards as the Yash Chopra Award for the Most Promising Debut-Director for his movie ‘Aurangzeb’ in 2014.

At the Los Angeles Indian Film Festival, he won the ‘Best Short Film’ Jury award for ‘Midnight Lost and Found’ in 2008. At the Zee Cine Awards, he was nominated for the Best Debuting Director for his movie ‘Aurangzeb’ in 2014. Atul Sabharwal says in an interview that watching movies in a theatre had always been his love and he gets excited about them just like a little kid.
