Angry Indian Goddesses! The title itself is intriguing. This movie that was touted as “India’s first female buddy film” doesn’t make you angry at all. Well, this film hits the bull’s eyes with a lesson to the male perverts, who look down at women.
Plot
There are seven female protagonists in this movie. Sarah-Jane Dias (a photographer) invites her buddies to her home in Goa.

Star Performances
The casting is perfect, and they are comfortably at ease on the screen. Sarah-Jane Dias is a revelation; she shows that she can also act well. Rajshri Deshpande has done a superb job, and so is Pavleen Gujral.Anushka Manchanda has understood her role well and has done a fair work. Sandhya Mridul, as usual, has done a neat job.
What’s there?
1. The screenplay is outstanding.
2. The characters of the seven women protagonists are etched beautifully; you will connect with them easily.

4. The first half goes on a good pace.

What’s not there?
1. Trying to justify the title the second half falters.
2. The second half seems to move in a hasty manner.
3. Revenge are the main essence of such films, but again the storyline in the later half becomes quite predictable. All the same the second half is engrossing due to the good acting of the protagonists.
Analysis
This movie is an ode to friendship and womenhood. The several faces of women are disclosed in this movie with prudence. The gender discrimination is portrayed in a balanced manner in this film. It’s indeed a surprise that a male director as Pan Nalin has delved into the lives of women with near perfection. Those who have viewed Sex and the City they will find that it is an Indian version of it.
Though there are several characters in the movie the director has taken efforts to delve into each one’s lives, which is genuine and honest.The characters may have their natural flaws but still there is some reality in them. The comedy, anger and hope all seem realistic in this movie. There is also a small reference to Indian Goddess Kali in the movie. Some of the conversations are censored in the movie.
Verdict
Though the movie has some flaws the gumption to handle such a subject should be applauded. The film can surely be watched once due to its relevant theme of women’s concerns.
