Plot

In the movie’s opening scene, Max sits on the rooftop, busy completing his sketch. Simultaneously, his mother calls him downstairs, urging him to finish packing as they move in. Here, we get to know that they used to live in that house when Max was only eight months old, but due to an accident where his father was killed, they moved out. They have now returned to live here. While shifting, Max sees something strange, some abnormal waves-like thing starts to appear when he moves his hand towards the T.V. he ignores it and continues unpacking. Later, he gets ready for school, but his thoughts are still on the waves that emerge from his hands. While going to school, he stops at a restricted lab area where his father used to work and where the accident happened. There he senses a strong sense of waves like things from his hand. Max returns to his school and we are shown an inside view of the lab. There, a weird blue-colored light was glowing from a submarine robot, which is because Max was around the area. As a result, the submersible robot begins to work. Meanwhile, Max encounters a minor accident with a car driven by a girl, Sofia. Later, they became friends while Sofia helped repair his cycle. In the next scene, we encounter the blue light of the submarine robot glowing brighter and suddenly, a tremendous boom erupts in the water. What were the unnatural things that Max was going through? What is the story behind the submarine robot? The rest of the film deals with it.

Star Performance

The actors are convincing as well as entertaining in their respective characters. Also, the story is well written taking in charge some fresh and innovative ideas. But the movie would have been better and finer with a quality presentation and a superior combo director and VFX editor.

Analysis

Max Steel is an entertaining, fun, and light-hearted movie to watch. The movie is full of action with a cavalier happy ending. The film indeed cannot be compared to a realistic and coherent movie as it is meant to be taken as entertainment. Although the VFX is not in the level to match with Marvels, still it was entertaining and convincing enough. A little more effort toward the film’s humor could have made the movie even better. Overall, the film is not overdone, trying to attract more audience just by its action scenes, instead it’s an enjoyable family show with some gratifying moments.

What’s There?

  • The movie provides enough entertainment to keep the viewer engaged throughout its watch-time.

What’s Not There?

  • A better and fitter execution of VFX and the director would have elevated the movie’s watch experience.

Verdict

Overall, Max Steel is a unique and engaging movie, and you will enjoy it if you watch it without comparing the VFX with the Marvel series.
