Red Riding Hood is filmed on the sets of a medieval village, and it is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl named Valerie falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family's displeasure and disagreement. Female protagonist Amanda Seyfried portrays Valerie and deals with her rejected love for woodcutter Peter. But at the same time she has to make really great efforts to put up with a wolf which is stalking her medieval village home complex spreading as hunter Father Solomon (Oldman) declares that it’s actually a werewolf, who might be one of the villagers.
Director Catherine Hardwicke could not resist carrying forward the legacy of vampires after Twilight and so directed Red Riding Hood as an another pale white movie. The film goes apparently for the fan base, that young teen demographic more than likely female and the kind of people who paid tons of money for Twilight.
The good part of the film is the actors, and every actor has performed their part well. But unfortunately, none of the actors have been given strong characters. Amanda Seyfried does a good job and brings about the emotions. Another mention is the excellent special effects with the wolf scenes. They took just a little from the Little Red Riding Hood. Oldmen is one of the very few things good about the movie; he keeps the characters intact and brings gravity. Overall this film does have some good aspects but apart from these few entertaining things, the movie appears to be fake and juvenile. This drama may appeal to Twilight fans, but the wobbly nature of the script, and stuffy dialogues will make it tiresome and even laughable to most audiences
