Plot:
J. Edgar is a movie that presents the life of the head of FBI named J. Edgar Hoover. J. Edgar is known to be the agent that enforced the law for 50 years in America. The movie deals with unveiling the story of this rather controversial personality along with the secrets he held within the confines of his house that had the potential to wreck his whole life.Â
The story is told through Hoover narrating the various life instances to his subordinate agents. It leaps backward and forward in time and doesn’t go chronologically which makes the whole plot rather turgid. Leonardo DiCaprio He’s one of the most searched icons in the web for >> Read More... plays the protagonist, Hoover, rather interestingly. We see Leonardo acting with intensity, but we are more distracted by the layers of padding and make-up. Clint Eastwood He is a legendary actor and considered to be the m >> Read More... uses his movie to reiterate to the fear and reverence of Hoover in his time that approaches history dynamically. In doing so, however, he becomes cumbersome.
Dustin Lance Black writes the story for the film that is smart in its attempt to bring out the hidden Hoover out of his precincts. He can bring the whole life of this dynamic personality within a confined time of 2 hours and 17 minutes successfully but slightly repetitively. Controversial claims of Hoover’s sexual relationships with his agent Tolson are handled shrewdly without claiming anything with surety. Clint makes sure that his movie doesn’t make any guaranteed claim about it and only touches upon the topic giving just the right amount of hints and clues.Â
Verdict:
The movie that is narrated as a flashback to the memories recalled by Hoover deals with the private life with his political engagements can be called worth giving one watch. One can expect an interesting performance by everyone with rather distracting layers of make-up and a ponderous script.
