PLOT: Alden Ehrenreich often gets dream of a girl. He finds his colleague, Alice Englert, to be the girl who comes in his dream. He befriends her and finds that they both share similar interests. He also comes to know that she is from a family who are casters. On her sixteenth birthday, she will turn either into a good caster, or an evil caster. Alden fears about her well being, and tries to units with her. In spite of so much of hurdles, will he unit with Alice?
ANALYSIS: The concept of the movie is more impressive than what is screened. The directors did a great job in presenting more than what is there in the book. Though the content and the quantity were same, the quality of the film was good. The script and the dialogues between the protagonist duo was uninspiring. They have succeeded in casting some great actors for supporting roles. They also have a good amount of humor in the movie.
STAR PERFORMANCES: The protagonists have wonderful actors doing support role for them, whose roles are unfortunately unexciting. This happens to be a great platform for Alden and Alice to show off their talents.
Emma Thompson
Thompson is an actress, writer, and a comedian in >> Read More...
plays the role of a matriarch, while Davis comes in a strange role. Alden's role differs between the book and the movie. The chemistry and the emotions shared by the lead duo overshadows the story.
WHAT'S THERE? Emmy Rossum's performance is a highlight of this movie. She plays the antagonist role, and she gives life to her character through her performance. Script by Richard LaGravanese saves the movie.
WHAT'S NOT THERE? The middle section of the movie seems to be draggy, that may topple the whole movie upside down.
VERDICT: An entertaining fantasy movie, unlike vampire versus wolves.
