This incident turned out to be controversial and a case was filed against Vijayakanth in the Indian Press Council. A complaint was also launched with the Police Commissioner of Chennai in this regard. The journalists sought an apology from the actor cum DMDK party chief. Today, Vijayakanth’s attorney GS Mani appeared before the Indian Press Council at Delhi and apologized on behalf of Vijayakanth. He also apologized for threatening a reporter in Salem. The Indian Press Council accepted the apology and withdrew the case against Vijayakanth. Vijayakanth, who had been admitted to MIOT Hospital for a couple of weeks, returned home, last week, after completing usual health checkups.
