GST and the Entertainment Tax are levied to the cinema tickets by the central and the state governments respectively. This has created a huge controversy among the film industry people. Biggies like Superstar “Rajinikanth,” Kamal Haasan, Vishal Reddy, “Cheran,” “T Siva,” “Vivek,” “Vijaya T Rajendar,” Mansoor Ali Khan and many others raised their voices against the double taxation. Although these people showed their opposition, the government hasn’t yet reduced or removed the Entertainment Tax. However, “Kalaipuli S Thanu,” Abirami Ramanathan and other important people from Kollywood are in a meeting with the Ministers.
