Tamilnadu Government Fined For Carelessness! National Green Tribunal Takes Action!

The National Green Tribunal had ordered the Tamilnadu government to pay the court, a fine of Rs 2 crores. Why the fine? As the Tamilnadu government that has been running under the captaincy of “Edappadi K Palaniswamy” and “O Panneerselvam” had worked carelessly and not cleared the invasions in the Adayar and Koovam rivers, the fine is levied. Jawaharlal Shanmugam had filed a petition in 2015 stating that the rivers are not maintained properly and as the blockades are not cleared seasonally, the rainwater couldn’t flow promptly through the rivers. Besides Jawaharlal, four others had also filed petitions regarding the same. The verdict on this petition is not yet over and the next hearing will be made on 12th December 2018.
