Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple Is The Cleanest Iconic Temple In India!

A Good News For Madurai people! Madurai Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple ranked top! Under the Swachhta Hi Seva programme, Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple is announced as the cleanest iconic temple in India. The temple had a tough competition with the iconic places in India such as Taj Mahal, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, the Golden Temple, Tirupathi temple and Sri Vaishno Devi temple and won the competition. 300 volunteers and 60 temple workers have been working to keep the temple clean. It is also reported that Thiagarajar Mills and TVS groups help the employees of the temple to maintain a clean environment. For every 50 meters, there are dustbins around the temple and this helps the temple management to maintain the temple well. 25 e-toilets and 15 water stations around the temple are one among the reasons for the temple’s cleanliness. Uma Bharati, the Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister would present the award to Veera Raghava Rao, the district collector of Madurai and Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar, today.
