The Parliamentary polls 2019 is announced. The election will be held in seven phases and the Tamilnadu people are allotted for voting in the second phase that falls on 18th April 2019. Madurai, the Temple City, celebrates the Chithirai Thiruvizha every year during April – May. As the festival starts during the election, the election commission has decided to extend the voting timings. Satyabrada Sahoo, the Chief Election Officer of Tamilnadu, announced that the election time is extended by 2 hours for Madurai voters and hence they could cast their vote until 8 Pm.
The candidates are allowed to file their nomination forms before 3 pm. The nomination forms will not be received on 23rd and 24th March, as it is a government holiday.
