Entertainment Tax On Movies Reduced By 2 Percent

The Tamil Nadu government made an announcement that the entertainment tax on movies would be ten percent. The unions in the Tamil cine field forwarded a protest against the move by the government. The producer council said that new movies would not be released. The scenario is such that movies have not been released for the last two weeks. The discussions were in progress for the last few days. The government consented to reducing the entertainment tax by two percent. The tickets would be sold at the rate fixed by the government.

After discussion with the government Vishal spoke to the media. Also, he said that the tickets would not be sold at a higher rate than the amount fixed by the government. Those who violate the rules and regulations will be prosecuted. As per the prevalent scenario, a maximum of Rs 190 would be received as the ticket amount in multiplex theaters. If it is to be online there would be an added Rs 30 as the price of the ticket. Depending on the city and the theaters the ticket rate would vary, said Vishal.
