Nearly 80 peacocks were found dead in Madurai Azhagar Kovil Road. Surya Nagar Golden City is on Azhagar Kovil main road and the peacocks are found in this area. The mysterious death of National birds had shaken the people in that area. Earlier in May, a peacock and 12 peahens were found dead in Madurai Thenoor. The public informed the forest department about this and after the investigations, it was found out that those birds were poisoned by a farmer, as they disturbed him. Already the peacocks have become the rare species. In the Azhagar Kovil peacocks death, the forest department had started their investigation and the birds are taken for autopsy.
