Mellisai is her 3rd film opposite the talented Vijay Sethupathi with the 2nd being Rummy. She depicts a violin teacher in Mellisai while Vijay is an aspiring music composer.

The film is a thriller with a social message. Gayathrie’s role has three different shades, and she says that it was quite challenging to do all those shades. 

When asked about Vijay Sethupathi, she said that he remained the same in spite of having become a star. She has matured as an actor and has become more professional, managing her call sheets.
