Protest Against CBFC Intensifies Over Janaki Vs State Of Kerala

The CBFC seems to have got off on the wrong foot in terms of Janaki vs State of Kerala.

The protests against the movie have been intensifying after the Mumbai wing of the Censor Board refused to give it certification, based on the assumption that the title would insult the legacy of Devi Sita.

However, this did not go down well with the Kerala film fraternity, and most of its members protested at the CBFC offices in Kerala. As of now, the producers of the courtroom drama have appealed against the decision in the Kerala High Court.

Interestingly, this decision was taken despite the fact that Suresh Gopi Malayali by birth, Suresh Gopinath, also known as >> Read More... , the lead actor of the movie, is actually a member of the ruling coalition in the Central Government. He became the first member of Bharatiya Janata Party to score a victory in the Lok Sabha elections, defeating K Muraleedharan of the Congress party by a comfortable margin of 3 lakh plus votes.

Janaki vs State of Kerala is directed by Pravin Narayanan and stars Suresh Gopi in the lead role. The movie also marks the return of Anupama Parameswaran to Malayalam cinema.
