1. He was the first Bollywood actor to work in two Hollywood movies which were ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘Life of Pi.’ Both of the films won 12 Oscars which is one of the records.


2. Irrfan Khan has been in the movies for a very long time, and movies like Maqbool pushed him to fame. If you look at his choice of films, most of them are heavy action oriented. He is one of the famous actors of Bollywood.

3. His PR team spends heavily to get him auditions for the roles of many movies. For example, I read that Irrfan Khan spends more than 75% of his earnings on his PR team alone. He had gone to see the shooting of ‘Ganga Ki Saugandh’ and ‘Jal Mahal’ as a child. Both films had been shot in his hometown. Wife Sutapa is a dialogue writer in movies.

4 Irrfan Khan’s real name is ‘Sahabzaade Irfan Ali Khan.’ He added an extra ‘R’ to his name just because, well, he loved the way it sounded. He starred in Sudhir Mishra's shelved film" The Nawab The Nautch Girl and The John Company" co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Chitrangada Singh. In 2003, Sudhir initially wanted Anil Kapoor in the movie. He also starred in a video of AIB.

5. His first film was Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay (1988), but his role was chopped from the final cut of the movie.

6. His name coincides with that of a terrorist, and so, he has been stopped at the Los Angeles airport a couple of times. But they don’t do that anymore because they recognize him now. He was signed for the lead role in Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist. He is one of the classy actors of Bollywood who is known for his acting.

7. Christopher Nolan offered him a role in Interstellar of Matt Damon, but he turned it down as it required him to stay in the US for four months at a go. He had already allotted those days to The Lunchbox and D-Day, and he didn’t want to turn back on his commitment.

8. He was among the most classical actors to have passed out from the prestigious NSD (National School Of Drama). But did you know, he lied about having prior theater experience, just to get admission to NSD!.

9. He also played a role in Jurassic Park for which he got praised. A scholarship was given to him to study in National School of Drama. His height is 6 feet 1 inch which makes him one of the tallest actors.

10. He was signed for an important role in Anurag Kashyap's "Black Friday" but opted out. He starred in director Navneet Baj Saini's 2007 shelved film " Teesri Manzil" co-starring Lucky Ali, Ranveer Shorey, Deepal Shaw, Nausheen Ali Sardar. They changed the film title later to “Bangkok Blues.” He was also signed for the film "Gang" aka (Choli Ke Peeche) but was replaced by Adil Hussein.
