K. Chandrashekara Rao is the current and also the first Chief Minister of Telangana state. He was born on 17th February,1954 in Chintamadaka village, Medak district, Telangana. Rao achieved a Masters degree in the field of Literature from Osmania University, located in Hyderabad. He is also the President of a regional party in India, Telangana Rastra Samithi. He was the Member of Legislative Assembly from Siddipet, Mahbubnagar, and Karimnagar. At present, he is the Member of Legislative Assembly from the district of Medak in Telangana. He took oath as the Chief Minister in the year 2014.

Rao began his career with the Congress party in his district, Medak. He joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1983 and contested elections against A. Madan Mohan Madan Mohan Kohli born on 25thJune 1924 in Iraq (B >> Read More... . However, he lost the election. But he did not give up; rather he went on with his hard work. He won four elections between the years 1985 to 1999 from Siddipet in Andhra Pradesh. For three years, he also worked as the Minister of Relief and also Droughts in Rama Rao’s ministry. In the year 2011, Rao launched Telangana Rashtra Samiti. In the 2004 elections, he won the Siddipet constituency of Assembly and also the Karimnagar constituency of Lok Sabha as a TRS member. In the 2004 general elections, TRS campaigned against the Indian National Congress.

Rao and five other TRS candidates returned as Members of the Parliament. TRS was a constituent of the United Progressive Alliance coalition government, which was lead by the Indian National Congress. The party later withdrew stating that the Alliance disapproved of a separate Telangana state. He then became the Labour and Employment Minister. In 2014, TRS emerged as the party having the highest vote share, and Rao took oath as the Chief Minister of the new state.

Rao married Shobha and is blessed with two children. His son Rama Rao is a politician from the district of Karimnagar. His nephew, Harish is the Minister for Irrigation, Urban Development, and Legislative Affairs. Rao is criticized for bringing all his family members in politics because they are family. He is also denounced for spending crores of money to satisfy his superstitious beliefs instead of promoting public welfare. He is also famous for using vulgar words against other political leaders. He also cheated the Dalits by promising them to make a person of low caste the Chief Minister of Telangana in order to acquire more votes. Rao is a recipient of CNN-IBN Indian of the Year based on Popular Choice in 2014.
