K. Chandrashekara Rao is the current and also the first Chief Minister of Telangana state. He was born on 17th February,1954 in Chintamadaka village, Medak district, Telangana. Rao achieved a Masters degree in the field of Literature from Osmania University, located in Hyderabad. He is also the President of a regional party in India, Telangana Rastra Samithi. He was the Member of Legislative Assembly from Siddipet, Mahbubnagar, and Karimnagar. At present, he is the Member of Legislative Assembly from the district of Medak in Telangana. He took oath as the Chief Minister in the year 2014.

Rao began his career with the Congress party in his district, Medak. He joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1983 and contested elections against A. Madan Mohan. However, he lost the election. But he did not give up; rather he went on with his hard work. He won four elections between the years 1985 to 1999 from Siddipet in Andhra Pradesh. For three years, he also worked as the Minister of Relief and also Droughts in Rama Rao’s ministry. In the year 2011, Rao launched Telangana Rashtra Samiti. In the 2004 elections, he won the Siddipet constituency of Assembly and also the Karimnagar constituency of Lok Sabha as a TRS member. In the 2004 general elections, TRS campaigned against the Indian National Congress.

Rao and five other TRS candidates returned as Members of the Parliament. TRS was a constituent of the United Progressive Alliance coalition government, which was lead by the Indian National Congress. The party later withdrew stating that the Alliance disapproved of a separate Telangana state. He then became the Labour and Employment Minister. In 2014, TRS emerged as the party having the highest vote share, and Rao took oath as the Chief Minister of the new state.

Rao married Shobha and is blessed with two children. His son Rama Rao is a politician from the district of Karimnagar. His nephew, Harish is the Minister for Irrigation, Urban Development, and Legislative Affairs. Rao is criticized for bringing all his family members in politics because they are family. He is also denounced for spending crores of money to satisfy his superstitious beliefs instead of promoting public welfare. He is also famous for using vulgar words against other political leaders. He also cheated the Dalits by promising them to make a person of low caste the Chief Minister of Telangana in order to acquire more votes. Rao is a recipient of CNN-IBN Indian of the Year based on Popular Choice in 2014.

Amar Singh is a politician from Uttar Pradesh. He was the most prominent name in the Samajwadi Party, but Singh left the party due to some internal tensions and issues among the members of the Party. Before this, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha and the general secretary of the Samajwadi Party. Amar is quite infamous, because of the numerous corruption cases that are ruling against him. Amar was born on 27 January, 1956, in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. He studied at St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata and married Pankaja Kumari Singh. He has two daughters. Amar joined politics and entered the Samajwadi Party. He came into limelight when the UPA government became a minority, because the Communist Party of India withdrew from the alliance in the support of Nuclear Accords with the United States of America. The Samajwadi Party came in front, joined hands with the UPA government, and pledged support, along with its 39 members. Singh was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1996, and was part of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Finance. During 1999-2001, he was a member of the Committee on the Provision of Computers to Members of the Rajya Sabha, and was also a member of the Joint Committee on Central Vigilance Commission Bill. From 1999 to 2000, Amar was part of the Committee on Prevention of Money Laundering Bill, and a member of the Consultative Committee for Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. From April 2001-2002, he was a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Stock Market Scam, and later on, Singh became a member of the Committee on Petitions. In 2003, after getting re-elected to the Rajya Sabha, he became a member of the Committee on Privileges from 2003-2004. In 2004, he became a member of the Business Advisory Committee and General Purposes Committee. Amar has been involved in several controversies, which are all related to him. He was probing in the Batla House Encounter case in 2008, and donated a check of Rs. 10 Lakhs to the family of a deceased police officer, Mohan Chand Sharma, who was a casualty during the encounter. Rumors surfaced that the check got bounced. Amar has also accused the BSP leader and then Chief Minister of the state of kidnapping 6 MP’s of their party and keeping them as hostages in Uttar Pradesh Bhavan. A chargesheet by the Delhi Police has been filed in his name, accusing him of giving bribes to the MP’s of the Bharatiya Janata Party, in 2008. Recently, he has been in the news, because Amar has voluntarily resigned from all the posts of the Samajwadi Party as of 6 January, 2010, and was later expelled, along with Jaya Prada, by Mulayam Singh Yadav on 2 February, 2010. He has formed another party by the name of Rashtriya Lok Manch, but lost badly in the polls and could not win a single seat.

Kalvakuntla Kavitha was born on March 13, 1978. She was born in Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh, India. Now it is in Telangana, India. She is the daughter of K. Shobha and K. Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, who is a well-known politician from the district of Chintamadaka. He is also the leader of Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party. Her cousin is T. Harish Rao. Kavitha demanded in 2010 that all the answer sheets of average students should be re-evaluated in the state. She also condemned the correction of answers scripts based on region. She urged to increase fee submitting dates and fee reduction. To rekindle Bathukamma she traveled all over the world for past several months since 2007. An NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) Telangana Jagruthi is run by Kavitha. In 2014 General Elections, she was elected from Nizamabad Constituency to 16th Lok Sabha. She got caught in a controversy when she made a statement that both Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana are forcedly adjoined to India. She has also said that some sections of Kashmir belong to Pakistan. She also added that Kashmir and Telangana were not a part of India in earlier times. Her other famous protests include the ones against Nandi awards and State Film Awards for ridiculing the Language and Culture of Telangana. She got married to Devanpalli Anil Rao.
