Srilakshmi, the veteran comedy actor of the Telugu film industry is one of those outstanding comedians who was introduced by one of the most talented comedy directors of his time, Jandhyala. In the time when female actors were rarely taking up comical roles, Sri Lakshmi made generations of the Telugu audiences laugh with all her hilarious roles.
Although she was the daughter of the Telugu producer Dr.Amarnath, the film industry was not what she chose initially. It was only because of financial troubles that inflicted her family after her family’s death that she took up acting with Jandhyala as her mentor.
She began her career with Ooriki Ichina Maata (a small film in which she plays a minor role) in the year 1981 but it was only later with films like Chantabbayi (the super-hit Chiranjeevi starrer), Mantri Gari Viyyankudu (yet another Chiranjeevi starrer) and Sri Variki Prema Lekha (a comedy by Jandhyala starring Naresh) that her comical roles gained critical acclaim. Post her recognition, Srilakshmi acted in nearly 500 films in supporting funny roles.
Srilakshmi’s brother Rajesh also happens to be an actor who’s acted in some prominent films as a lead actor back in the 80s and the 90s.
It has been a while since Srilakshmi has acted in a comical role what with her last release being Dhoni which came out in the year 2012. However, she continues to rule the TV world with all the serials that she is being cast in the recent times. No matter how many years it has been, Srilakshmi’s comical roles from some of her older films are still fondly remembered.

Sri Lakshmi is an Indian Film actress who has predominantly worked in Telugu Film industry. She is the daughter of famous telugu actor and producer Dr. Amarnath. She was born in a family with the background of Film Industry and has always had an interest towards acting as well. Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Suryakantam.
After that, she worked in various films, such as Chevilo Puvvu, Aditya 369, Edurinti Mogudu Pakkinti Pellam, Tali Tandarullu,
Ladies Special, Mayalodu, One by Two, Rajendrudu Gajendrudu, and many others. In 1994, she worked in Shubha Lagnam, a Telugu film directed by S. V.
Krishna Reddy starring
Jagapati Babu, Aamani, and Roja. This movie was a blockbuster movie. She also worked in Brahmachari Mogudu, M Dharmaraju M.A., and Gharana Alludu the same year. She mostly worked in comedy films. All her films were super hit and gained her a lot of popularity. She also worked in many TV series such as Sarvani Subramanyam and Nenu Ayana Aruguru Attalu.
