Saloni Aswani is a model and Indian actress, born on June 1, 1987, as Vandana Aswani. Saloni is known for her work in the Kannada and Telugu film industries. She is from a Sindhi-speaking family based in Maharastra’s Ulhasnagar. When Saloni was about five years old, her family relocated to CGS quarters in Wadala, Mumbai, where her father worked as an assistant commissioner of narcotics. She attended the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University (SNDT) close to New Marine Lines/Churchgate, Mumbai, after finishing high school, where she majored in Psychology and received her degree. She had consistently participated in dramas throughout her academic career, mainly imitating Sridevi.
She also studied acting at Ashok Kumar's Academy of Dramatic Arts and performed with the theatre company Kala Sansad. Saloni was interested in acting from a young age and was supported by her mother, though her father always wanted her to have a "respectable job." She made multiple appearances in television commercials for products like Vaseline, Lifebuoy, Parachute Oil, Moove, Chic Shampoo, Three Roses Tea, and Meera soaps. She made her film debut in 2003 with the Hindi movie Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya. In addition to Kannada and Telugu, Saloni was also part of Tamil cinema. She made her Telugu film debut in 2005 with Dhana 51 before going on to star in several other Telugu films, including Oka Oorilo and Chukkallo Chandrudu.
She portrayed the female lead in S.S. Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramanna, which received positive reviews and became a commercial success. Saloni made her Tamil and Kannada debuts with Madurai Veeran in 2007 and Buddhivanta in 2008, respectively. Following the success of the latter, she went on to star in other Kannada films, including Dubai Babu, Mr Theertha, Lakshmi, and Shivam, among others.
