Lei Qingyao is a Chinese actress with a disability. She was born and raised in Sichuan, China. She was born a healthy and fit child, but an accident impaired her for life. She was four years old when the tragedy occurred. She was flying kites with her mates, and her kite got stuck on an electronic pillar, she climbed up to get the kite and accidentally touched the high power electric wires.

She fainted, and the doctors had to amputate her arms. The incident broke down the family. As a result of the amputation, Lee could no longer attend school or carry on the everyday activities. But with time they came to accept and start living with her impairment.

Lei was not one to give up on her life due to some difficulty. She wanted her normal life back, and she was ready to work for it. After struggling for years, she made herself capable of eating, drinking, writing, even painting with her feet.

Lee even learned to swim and ride a bicycle, despite all the discomforts. Her family's constant support and encouragement helped her achieve wonders. Her story and love for life inspired Feng Zenzhi, a director and he decided to make a motion picture on the life of Lei Qingyao to inspire people to experience life to its fullest, in every situation.

Feng wanted Lei to play her role in the movie, and after a lot of contemplation, she agreed. The shoot brought new challenges for Lei, and she embraced them with a smile. On September 6, 2007, the movie was released. The movie was a huge success.

It reached the audience and brought tears into the eyes of each viewer. The film won The Golden Elephant Award after screening at International Children’s Film Festival in Hyderabad. The motion picture even got translated in Telugu.

Lei won the Best Newcomer Hundred Flowers Award and the Excellent Child Actress Award. The life of Lei Qingyao is an inspiration for all of us. She teaches us to always strive for the best and always to be grateful for what God has given us.

Her life story, which has now been made into a motion film speaks all the truths of her life. In 2013, Lei published a book called "My Heart Flies." The book, like her film, talks about her life story and attempts to encourage and inspire the youth.
