Gayathri Iyer

Gayathri Iyer is a well-known Indian film actress and a model. She was born as Gayathri Venkitagiri on June 16, 1983, in Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu in India. She took a Mechanical Engineering course, and her modelling career started during college when she joined many fashion shows, which led her to participate in intercollege fashion shows. Later, she got noticed by certain casting directors and coordinators from Kerala. Gayathri subsequently did some print ads before she went on to become a TV commercial model for popular brands like Garnier, Vivel Soap, Pantene, Prince Jewellery, Eashoffbang, Yamaha Dream Rider, ParleG, Airtel Digital TV, Colgate Max Fresh, Vanitha Magazine Cover, Cool Lips, Kalamandir Sarees and many more She did some modelling ramp in Bangalore for various fashion labels. When she already established herself as a successful model, she then shifted to acting and has worked predominantly in the Telugu and Kannada film industry. In 2012, she was introduced and became notable for her role as a heroine in the Telugu horror-thriller film, Six, opposite Jagapathi Babu. Gayathri got noticed to play the role of a heroine not just because of her pretty face but also the way she handles powerful characters. In the same year, she did another Telugu film entitled Gola Gola, opposite Sivaji. In the following year, she was seen in Daya, alongside Taraka Ratna. In 2014, she was cast in Agasthiya Bharathi’s Tamil film, Ninaivil Nindraval, which features Keerthi Chawla and Ashwin Sekhar in the lead roles. Gayathri also acted in her first Kannada appearance in the comedy horror film, Namo Bhootatma, which was helmed by renowned choreographer, Murali. The film stars Komal Kumar, Ishwarya Menon, Anaswara Kumar and Harish Raj in the lead roles. She also donned a Bengalj film entitled Shrishti. She reunites with Sivaji in the Telugu film, Dorakadu in 2015. Also from 2015, she acted in Rajkumar Reddy’s Kannada supernatural horror film, Ouija, which stars Bharat and Shraddha Das in the lead roles. This film was shot in Malaysia, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Ouija was entitled Aata in Telugu. She is now working in a Kannada action film entitled Tyson, alongside Vinod Prabhakar. Gayathri is not just a versatile actress but a talented performer as well. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and was trained in hip-hop and contemporary dance. She is also trained in Taekwondo. Her ultimate dream is to act in a Malayalam film if given a chance.

Kanakam

T Kanakam is one of the earliest actresses in the history of Tollywood movie industry. She is also a Telugu film and theater actress in who made her mark in singing too; Kanakam had a long run as a theater and film artist. As a theater artiste, she believed a lot in melodramatic acting that had characters’ emotions to add layers of nuance to her roles that she played in mythological or social or drama films. This actress has acted with veterans like NTR, ANR, Shobhan Babu, Krishna and others in many successful movies of her time. Kanakam began her career as a singer in All India Radio as a voice artist and had performed in Aakashavani Balala program during her childhood. Later she took an interest to join films too. She made her debut in films with Gruhapravesam in 1946. Her popular movies include Gunasundari Katha, Keelu Gurram, Pathala Bhairavi, and Bhakta Prahlada, etc. Bhakta Prahlada, which released in 1967, was her last film. After quitting films, she moved to Vijayawada again where she spent her childhood. This actress was born in Kharagpur in West Bengal and later had moved to Vijayawada. She gained popularity for playing the character of Nayakuralu Nagamma in Palnati Yuddham and Sri Krishna in Kurukshetram dramas. She was also a popular stage artiste in Andhra Pradesh. Her drama troupes made her famous in stages as such troupes were organized throughout Andhra Pradesh then. For her contribution to stage and theater, she was honored with the Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) Theatre Art Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2004. She also has received many Andhra Pradesh Awards to her credit. The actress had passed ways at her residence in Vijayawada on 21 July 2015.
