Ramesh Babu

Ramesh Babu is a film actor and producer in India; mainly works in the Telugu Film Industry. Ramesh Babu Ghattamaneni, his birth name, was born on 13th October 1965 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His parents are famous Telugu actor Ghatamaneni Siva Rama Krishna and mother Indira Devi. He is their oldest son; after him are three daughters, namely, Padmavathi, Priyadarshini and actress-producer Manjula Ghattamaneni and also a son, a notable actor, Mahesh Babu.

Ramesh is married to Mrudula and they have two children, Bharathi and Jaya Krishna. His brother Mahesh Babu has also started acting in a very young age. Mahesh has appeared with Ramesh in his movies as child artist in the small roles. Mahesh Babu is the present Superstar of South Indian cinema. He is married to Namrata Shirodkar, Femina Miss India. Ramesh started his acting career in 1977 playing a small role in the film ‘Manushula Chesina Dongalu’ as a child artist.

The following year he appeared in a vital role in the film ‘Needa’ (1979). Then after taking a break for about eight years he played a lead role in 1987 film ‘Samraat’. His film ‘Bazaar Rowdy’ gave him his first hit as a lead actor. He did four films with director Dasari Narayana Rao, who gave him a chance in the film ‘Needa’. He retired in 1997 before doing 15 films. In 2004, he started his production house Krishna Productions Pvt Ltd in Hyderabad.

The first film he produced was ‘Arjun’, starring his brother Mahesh Babu, Shriya Saran and Prakash Raj. The film ran successfully at the box office. Krishna Productions collaborated with UTV Motion Pictures for a film; this was the first time any corporate company entered into Telugu Film Production. The film failed at the box office. Ramesh was executive producer for the Hindi film ‘Sooryavansham’ (1999).

He started his career as a child artist with his father's movie Manushulu Chesinadongalu in 1977. After that, he took a break from acting and started completing his studies. Ten years later, he comes back again on the big screen with the movie Samraat directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, but he got recognized with the Movie Bazaar Rowdy, which released in 1988.This movie was a blockbuster at the box office.

He was last seen in the film Pacha Thoranam. After that, they started his new journey as a producer with film Arjun directed by Gunashekhar in 2004.
