Sasikiran Narayana

Sasikiran Narayana is a director who works in the Tollywood industry. She is the daughter of the popular comedian MS Narayana. Sasikiran completed her graduation from Bheemavaram and got married instantly after her education was complete at the age of 18. Due to some difficulties, she had to take a break from her marriage and she eventually started looking for some work. She started to work for a multimedia company, but she knew that it’s not going to work out for her in the long haul, as she always had higher aspirations.

Then finally, she made a jump from working in the corporate to direction, when she first directed a Telugu TV serial. Later on, a producer who wanted to make a movie with a female director approached Sasikiran and thats how she got her first break. Her father had a few doubts over whether Sasikiran is capable of directing a movie all on her own, but Sasikiran knew at that time that she is ready, she had garnered enough experience by directing TV serials and series of short films. Finally, Saheba Subramanyam became the first movie that Sasikiran directed, the movie was a remake of a Malayalam film.

The movie is about an interfaith relationship between a Hindu and a Muslim girl. Sasi took a little help from her father in promoting the movie. The movie failed to make a huge impact on the box-office, but it was a critically acclaimed piece of art. It was well-received with rave reviews. Sasikiran also has spoken many times about the lack of women power in the industry, how she is one of the only few female directors. In an interview Sasi explained how there haven’t been any blatant instances of discrimination against her, but she requests the parents to let their girls follow their dreams.
