Aggarwal was a famous Indian Cinematographer and Director who worked for four decades in the industry and has produced movies in four different languages i.e. Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. He earned numerous awards and worked in over 100 movies. Kumar's family comprised of his wife and four sons, two of them are cinematographers. He had given his whole-hearted contribution to the Indian Cinema for which many upcoming generations will be thankful. Ashok Kumar Aggarwal was born in Allahabad, India in 1941. He was the son of famous Hindi poet Kedarnath Aggarwal. He nursed his ambition regarding cinema and movies from the childhood itself. He did not have any filmy background. He had to convince his parents to follow his dream. Thus, after doing diploma in photography from The University of Allahabad, he joined the Institute of Film Technology, Adyar where he did a course in motion photography.

The learning that he got from his institute was a major building block for his career. After completing his graduation, Ashok made his first movie in 1969 in Malayalam, that was, "Janmabhoomi." The film was based on the theme of religious co-existence. Ashok kumar’s career started with a big hit movie and this made him popular in South Indian Industry. Some of his outstanding movies made him win numerous rewards at the state level and national level. After having a successful start, Ashok Kumar got offers for various movies.

" in 1973 and "Taxi Driver" in 1977. Ashok Kumar made his debut in Tamil Film Industry as cinematographer with director J. Mahendran. Later, Mahendran and Ashok worked in many movies together. The movies that brought Kumar giant fame are "Nenjathaikillathe" (1980) that won National Film Award For Best Cinematography and Tamil Nadu State Award for the cinematography itself, "Andru Peytha Mazhaiyil" (1988) brought him Tamil Nadu State Award again, "Sri Sai Mahima" (2000) won Nandi Award For Best Cinematographer and " Bawandar “Bawandar” is a reality based TV show, which worke >> Read More... " (2000) won V.Shantaram Awards. Kumar stayed active in the film industry from the year 1969-2006. He became severely ill in 2014 and was admitted to hospitals for more than six months.
