K Vijay Kumar Bio coming soon... >> Read More... is the senior security advisor for the Ministry of Home Affairs since 2019. Born on 15 September 1952, Vijay Kumar grew up with six other siblings. He has acquired his graduate as well as post graduate degree from Madras University and completed his MBA from IGNOU. He achieved a master's degree in business law from National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
Kumar joined India Police Services in 1975. He has expertise in forest operations, security purposes and dealing with revolutionaries. He has served as Superintendent of Police for 2 years. Then for next 5 years, he was a part of the Elite Special Protection Group assigned for former PM Rajiv Gandhi. He was also a part of SPG for the security of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. His skills earned him the position of the very first IGP in the south zone of Tamil Nadu.
He got attention after he was appointed to head the Special Task Force- “Operation Cocoon” to capture the most wanted sandalwood smuggler, involved in the murders of more than 100 people, Veerappan, in 2004. He even wrote a book about this operation named “Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand.” He has also served in CRPF as a Director-General. Kumar has served twice in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir, first from 1998-2000 as Inspector General, BSF. After that, he served as the advisor to the Governor of J&K.
