She was born to actor William and Mary Vasantha, along with her two sisters and one brother. Her father lost his place in this mortal world during a robbery incident that took place in September 2011.

In the year 1992, she acted as Hamsa in the Tamil drama movie, ‘Thalaivasal’, which was directed by Silva,and under the music direction of Bala Bharathi.

On 1st February, 1993, S. Ganesharaj directed the Tamil drama film, “Chinna Thayee”, where Vichitra was casted for the role of Ponnamma alongside Vignesh and Padmashri in the leading roles. In 1993, she casted for the supernatural movie, ‘ Aathma Aathma is a Tamil horror TV series that aired on Z >> Read More... ’, where she had a special appearance. Prathap K. Pothan directed the movie and it was based on Irving Wallace's ‘The Miracle’. On 8th of July, 1994, under S. A. Chandrasekhar, “Rasigan" hit the box office and the banner stood firm for 150 days. The movie got a rating of 7.2 from IMDb. It came out to be one of the best works of her career. Vichitra gracefully completed the role of "Rani” in the film, claiming positive reviews from the critics.
