TharshanThiyagarajah is an Indian actor and model of Sri Lankan origin. Born in Jaffna in Sri Lanka, he emigrated to India to follow his passion for acting. He kick-started his career with a host of modeling gigs for various brands during his days in college.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, he headed off to the United States, where he started work with the IT company, ‘Virtusa.’ Following a corporate job of five years, he quit his position and declined his promotion to restart his profession as a model. His perseverance and skill paid off and he was the winner of the ‘Mister Sri Lanka’ title in 2016. Tharshan moved to India to be a part of the South Indian film industry.
His debut in ‘VerennaVendum (2018)’ in the role of the villain, made him very popular with the audience. This role was succeeded by him securing a part in two other movies (still unreleased). In 2019, he was chosen to be one of the contestants in the third season of the reality TV show, Big Boss hosted by Kamal Hassan. His place in the show gave his already rising fame a strong push. He has also been the face of many commercial advertisements for popular brands like Pothy’s and Malabar Gold.
