Sabapathy Dakshina Murthy is a film director and writer who works in the Indian film industry mainly in the Tamil film industry. He is also known as SD Saba and saba Kailash. He is well known for his movie paathinaaru.
Sabapathy was born in Chennai in Tamil Nadu. He started his career professionally as a director in 1992 with the film bharathan. Released on 16th April the plot of the movie was about a man named bharath who was found guilty for his own elder brother's murder though he was innocent.
So to take revenge, he with the help of three other convicts in jail escapes from it. The picture received average reviews at the box office. Following this, his next film enga Thambi had been released on 9th April 1993.
This movie was a romantic drama in which the uncle of the girl named indu plots against her boyfriend and sends him to jail. After a break of three years, his next movie was released in 1996 titled sundura purushan. Produced by RB Choudary the film is a romantic drama based on the a man who begins to like a woman who is his cousin and eventually falls in love with but later on when he finds that she loves someone else he tries to help her in uniting with her lover.
Released on 12th July, the film received the positive response from both the critics and the audience. This was followed by another release in 1997 titled V.I.P. Produced by S Thanu it is Sabapathy's third romantic film. The film is about a man who marries against the wish of his mother, and that is followed by events he had never imagined forcing him to move out with his wife and kid. The picture got an average response.
In 2003 sabapathy directed two films which are punnagai poove and naam. Punnagai poove is another romantic drama about two girls who fall in love with the same boy, and later one has to sacrifice her love for him whereas naam is a drama on a plane hijack by terrorists. Sabapathy debuted as a Telugu director with the movie pandem.
Released on 5th February 2005 the movie os a comedy and revolves around the story of a boy who is unemployed and loves a girl but the girl wants to be with someone wealthy. 2011 was the most successful year of his career as his film paathinaaru was released.
The director made the first Kannada film of his career also in 2011 itself titled jolly boy. This is his latest release under the production of K Manju.
