Shelvi is a popular astrologer and politician. His birth name is K Damodaran. He was born and brought up in Chennai. Shelvi’s native is Vellore. His father was an advocate, and his mother was a headmistress in a government school. He has two siblings. He did his schooling at Kellet Higher Secondary School in Triplicane, Chennai. Like his father, Shelvi wanted to become an advocate. He learned astrology at a young age. Shelvi got inspired by his friend’s dad, who was an astrologer. Although Shelvi is from a wealthy background, he wanted to earn on his own when he was in school. So, he delivered newspapers early in the morning. He had also worked at his friend’s shop during the school holidays. He sold books and lottery tickets and earned money. During that time, he started learning astrology. Initially, he gained knowledge by reading astrology books. He started predicting astrology and numerology at that young age by getting birthdates from the customers who came to the shop where he worked. Soon, he got popular. When Shelvi expressed his interest in learning astrology, none in his family supported him, except for his mother. Shelvi stated that his father was against his decision, and this brought some issues between them.

At that time, one of his family friends suggested Shelvi use a pen name and suggested this name. This how he got the pen name. Shelvi started believing his talent after he found his predictions come true in his personal life. He also wrote in Bhakti Book from Kumudam. At that time, Priya Kalyanaraman gave him the epithet, Edhartha Jyothidar, as Shelvi predicts things practically. Now, he is one of the leading astrologers in India. Shelvi belongs to the political party BJP, and he is the leader of the intellectual wing for Tamilnadu BJP.
