Swapna Abraham, also known as Swapna Susy Cherian and Anna, was born in 1971. Her parents were active members of a local church choir. She originally belonged to a tiny village in Kerala. But at a later age, she moved to Chennai and, finally, to Abu Dhabi, UAE. She wrote her first song, "I'm Crying," which launched her musical career at the mere age of 15. Gospel music was her initial inspiration to get into the music field. She completed her bachelor’s degree in commerce from Mahatma Gandhi University. After that, she studied for an MBA at the same place.
Swapna Abraham has released several albums. Her major recordings are "Believe in the Lord," "Prayer to Prayer," "The Magnificent Christ," and "Lessons in the Wilderness." Swapna also tried secular music. Her secular album, "Live the Dream," was released in 2015. In the 2020s, she composed and released singles "I'm Crying," "No Love Lost," "Love Can't Say Goodbye," and "Unforgiven".
Swapna won the Maestro Award at the LAMP-ICONGO Karmaveer Chakra in 2012 for her contributions to gospel music. She won a Silver Medal for Outstanding Achievement at the Global Music Awards in 2023 for her song "No Love Lost." She received a Doctor of Music (Honoris Causa) degree from Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed To Be University in 2022, in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the world of music.
