He has taken many roles in the movie industry, including a cinematographer, an actor, director, and scriptwriter. Robin (christened John) was born in Elamakkara to Machan Varghese, one of the most celebrated actor-comedians in Mollywood. He was ingrained with a strong passion for making it big in the world of cinema and was inspired by his father’s artistic brilliance. He graduated from Vidyanikethan College in Ernakulam and began working on independent short films to build his portfolio. He chose to start small and climb his way up to success rather than cash in on his father’s fame. He did supporting roles in movies like ‘Goonda’ and ‘Isaac Newton S/O Philipose.’

His short film ‘Sundaran,’ a work on transgender romance, made him known in acting circles after it became a success on YouTube. He signed on to work in full-length feature films and was cast in the 2018 movie ‘Theneechayum Peerangippadayum.’ Robin started his agency called ‘Machan’z Advertising,’ which caters to professional photoshoots as well as promotional videos.
