At the age of eight, he started learning Carnatic music under different music teachers, namely, Ranjini, Anitha Sunanda, Azheekodu Gopinathan, Cherthala Santhosh Kumar, and Thalasseri Balan Master. As a child, he participated in many music competitions and was honored with awards and prizes. His immense passion for music made him choose music as his career. Ratheesh had taken part in many talent hunt shows such as Swaramanjari, which was telecasted on Surya TV, Gandharvasangeetham, telecasted on Kairali TV, and Doordarshan Raagalayam.

He was also a contestant in Super Star Global It was a reality show which has been witnessed var >> Read More... , a reality show telecasted on Amrita TV. This show was a breakthrough in his life. His soothing and vibrant music gave him laborious fame among music lovers. Later, M. Jayachandran, a great musician, and singer gave him an opportunity to render his voice for his first debut song, "Paazhmulam Thandil" from "Ivar Vivahitharayal", starring Jayasurya and Bhama. The song was a huge hit and created a sensation among the public. He is highly trained in classical, light music, and other genres of music.

Ratheesh Kumar is more popular as a ghazal singer. He said that Ummabayee, a famous Ghazal vocalist, inspired him to become a Ghazal singer. He performed Ghazal on more than fifty stages. After that, he moved to Dubai and worked at "Radio Asia," where he honed his skills. Ratheesh Kumar is not only a singer but a music teacher as well. At a very young age, he started teaching music to students. He currently runs a music and dance school, "Pallavi School of Music and Dance," with his wife, who is a dancer. The school teaches dance, music, and different instruments to numerous students. Ratheesh Kumar’s intense interest, passion, and hard work helped him establish himself as a singer. References:
