Ganesh Sundaram

Ganesh Sundaram was born on May 30, 1969, at Ernakulum, Kerala. His parents are Mr. N.S. Chettiyar and Mrs. Meenakshi. He has his primary education at Govt primary school at Thekkumbhagam which was situated at Tripunithura the capital of Ernakulum. To continue his higher secondary education he moved to two schools namely Govt Boys Higher extra studies at Tripunithura and Govt Higher subsidary qualification at Chottanikara.

Ganesh was very close to his school teacher for his capability in singing and artworks. At the age of ten, he started taking the class in Carnatic music. He had his initial music training from his guru Mrs.Lailu in Carnatic music. Later his training extended with musicians like Mrs.Indira, Tomy Thomas, Kaavalam Sreekumar, S.K.Subramanian and Kanjangad Sreenivasan giving him training in music. His first competition in Vocal Recital helped him to grow from Schooling to university. He received several praises and Prizes for his inborn talent in music.

In 1988, at the age of Nineteen, he was one of the most loved on stage professional Ganamela Stasr. In 1989 by All India Radio he was chosen as the BGrade Artist. After two years he was moved to the position of B-High Grade Artist. He married Smitha, and they have two sons. They are Shankar and Sreedhar. His most remarkable devotional play is for Chottanikkara Devi's Guruthipooja. It was a big hit in his music history. After that, he had done several similar works like Sivapooja, Kaayamboo varnan, AAlilakkanna, Sree Theertha Pradayini, Amme Nama, Padmahara Priya and Devyai Nama.

He recorded his music for several of the prominent artist’s films and directors movies. He collected several awards for his contribution towards music. He received the award as the best singer of the year in 2006 by the Kerala Sangeet Natak Academy. He also won the light music award for continuous three years from 1993 conducted in M.G.University Youth Festival. He received the first prize from Sangam Kala Group of New Delhi for the National level music completion

In his life history of music he has composed about four Thousand songs and about eight hundred albums like devotional songs, patriotic songs, love Songs in several Languages like Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Konkani Languages. Also, he sang for about fifty dramas including one Bengali drama. His career mostly focuses on singing songs for Malayalam Movies. He almost sang songs for twenty plays in Malayalam. One among that is Sree Rama Rajyam which is a Block Buster Hit.
