Vindhyan

Vindhyan was a remarkable producer and actor, primarily working in the Malayalam film industry. He was born in 1951 in Peringottukara, Thrissur. He debuted in the Malayalam film industry at an early age of 19, as the co-producer of “Shalini Ente Koottukari.” In his three-decade career, he has produced and co-produced over 20 films in Mollywood. Some of his substantial works include “Oru Swakaryam” (1983), directed by Harikumar, “Vadakkunokkiyantram” (1989), directed by Sreenivasan, three of his works are directed by Shyama Prasad “Ore Kadal” (2007), “Elektra” (2010), “Arike” (2012).

The movies in which he worked as a co-producer include “Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu” (1998), directed by Kamal, “Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum” (1999), directed by Vinayan. As an actor, he made his debut by playing a cameo role in one of the ten short films “Off-Season” in the movie “ Kerala Cafe Kerala Cafe is a comedy show which came on the cha >> Read More... ” (2009) directed by Shyamaprasad. Also, he scripted a movie directed by VK Prakash, one of his close friends in the industry, named “Mullavalliyum Thenmavum” (2003). He had a keen interest in theatre and literature and was preoccupied with the tendencies of an artist.

He was a man of artistic vision and had in-depth knowledge of the art of movies, as reflected through his works. Vindhyan lost his life on 1 September 2012 at a private hospital while he was under treatment for an abdominal ailment. He was finely responding to the treatment a few days back but, suddenly the condition worsened and he lost his life. His cremation held at his ancestral home in Peringottukara, Thrissur.
