Varghese Moolan

Varghese Moolan is a producer, writer, and a famous businessman in India. He has founded various organizations. He has also produced and co-produced some Malayalam movies. He was born at Angamaly, a town in Kerala. He took his pre-degree at Sacred Heart College, Thevara, in Kerala. He did a BSc in Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry at Sree Sankara College, Kerala. He has a diploma in Management. He took the diploma from Aligarh Muslim University. He has a PhD in Modern Marketing with relevance to food. He went to the University of Colombo for his PhD in 2010. 

Varghese jumped into the business arena after 1981, when he moved to Saudi Arabia. In 1985, he started a Vijay Supermarket in AI Khobar. His business grew and spread to India in 1987. Moolans Group has expanded its business in more than 30 countries. The group has big factories in Saudi Arabia, India, Onam, and UAE. These are famous as the chain supermarkets named Moolans Hyper Marts. In 2002, Moolan became the first ever Indian to get a Saudi Investment License (green card in Saudi Arabia). 

He is the founder of the Global Malayalee Council. The council was founded in 1999. It is a global-level based organization of Indians and Non-Resident Indians working for the socio-economic development of India. He is the chairman of the Varghese Moolan Foundation. He launched a project, Touch a Heart, under Varghese Moolan Foundation. The project provides free surgeries to 60 poor pediatric heart patients. 

He has authored three novels. The first novel he wrote was Thekku, manual pumping of water. He wrote Erimalayilorabhayam (taking refuge in a burning volcano). His third novel was published in the form of a book titled, Ee Pravasikalil Oruvam. He has written the lyrics, composed the music, and published a devotional album, Deivikam.

Varghese Moolan is honored with various awards and honors. He was honored with the Bharat Jyothi Award in 2006. Other awards are the Vikasana Jyothi Award in 2008, the Pravasi Bharati (Kerela) Award in 2009, International Business Excellency Award in Malaysia in 2010, and Saudi Business Excellence Award in Riyadh in 2014, and many others.
