Afsal Yousaf is a music composer based in South India, particularly Kerala. He is an emerging name in the Mollywood film industry. He was born to Prof. K K Muhammed Yusuf and Fathima, without the gift of sight but with the innate gift of music. Based in Aluva, he did his schooling at the School For Blind at Aluva, Kochi. From there, he went on to earn two bachelor's degrees- in English at Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, Kochi, and in Music from Maharajas College, Ernakulam. His debut work was Aadyam Paranna Shalabham, a music album for which he collaborated with film director Aashiq Abu Aashiq Abu known for his work in Malayalam Cinema, >> Read More... . His entry into the film industry was through the movie Chandranilekulla Vazhi, in 2008.
He has also composed music for a variety of projects, including Calendar (2009), Bombay March 12 (2011), Orange (2012), Ithu Pathiramanal Click to look into! >> Read More... He did the background score for God For Sale (2013), Immanuel (2013), Ennodu Para I Love U nnu (2019), and Martin (2021). He is also a talented singer and showed off his beautiful voice through the films Orkut Oru Ormakoot (2012) and Theeram (2017). He received Special Mention in the Kerala State Film Award and the Thikkurushi Foundation Award for Popular Music Director for his work in Emmanuel (2013). He is married to Nisha and has three children- Hanna Fathima, Fidha Fathima, and Abdulla.
