Vinay Govind is known for the subgenre of comedy films. He sketches the character in his movies in a comic and positive fashion. He is known for taking the main theme and then inspires much of the plot. His films also have certain themes and element in common. Vinay Govind had directed his first movie ‘'Kili Poyi' (2013) with
Asif Ali, Aju Varghese. The film opened in theatres with good response from critics’ verdict. Before making his move to showbiz, the director had studied visual communication from Chennai.
He undertook a course in Loyola College for visual communication course and this helped him to turn into a director. His visual communication course fetched him a job in advertising world but due to his passion for film, he took up a job of an assistant director with Malayalam filmmaker V. K. Prakash who was directing 'Beautiful'(2011). Vinay Govind had learnt the craft of direction under Prakash and he then made his debut as an assistant director with 'Kili Poyi'. This was an extraordinary film which was churned out from Malayalam film industry. In 2015, Vinay directed '
Kohinoor' which was set in the period of 1980’s.
It was again a comedy heist film which featured Asif Ali for the second time in his directorial venture. The director gave importance to costumes worn in 1880’s and this created an ambiance set in that period. This was a well-packed entertainer movie with comedy and thrill too. The film had an average run at the box office but higher appreciation from critics helped him a lot to emerge as a young intelligent film director. The director's upcoming project is finalised. It will be a movie titled 'Amar Chitra Gadha'.
The director will direct
Nivin Pauly in this movie. For the first time, the hero Nivin will play three characters which are based on names of three ladies and they are Amar, Chitra, and Gadha. Actor Aju Varghese who acted in his early project ‘Kohinoor’ will also play an important role in his upcoming movie. This director was born on March 3, 1988, in Kerala. He had gone to school in his hometown of district Perinthalmanna. Without any godfather in the film industry, it is indeed very uncommon that Vinay Govind has made his mark just through two films that released so far.
