Jiyen Krishnakumar

Jiyen Krishnakumar was born on 1^st May 1978 in Poojapur, Kerala. Jiyen is a director who works in the Malayalam film industry. He completed his schooling from St. Xavier’s High School in Thiruvananthapuram. After that, he attended Kattakada College, Thiruvananthapuram.

During his college days, Jiyen, who already had made his mind up to join the film industry as a moviemaker, wrote many plays and directed many theatre skits. He started his career in the film industry as an assistant director to TS SureshBabu. During his time as an assistant director, Jiyen was also independently directing many TV serials for Asianet and Surya TV. He directed a few commercials for some brands.

As he was working with SureshBabu, on the side he was preparing a script for his own movie. After the success of College Days, Jiyen made a name for himself. He next came out with Kaanchi in 2013, a mystery thriller about a man who witnesses a murder. The movie did not impress the critics much, but this was yet another hit on the box office. Further cementing Jiyen’s career as a prominent writer/director.

His next movie was the biggest one he has done to this day. Tiyaan, a drama thriller revolving around two men, a Hindu and a Muslim who are stuck with each other in a communal clash in North India. This was yet another successful movie for Jiyen and by this time in 2017 he had cemented himself as one of the most promising directors in the game. He is next working on his upcoming movie Paramaguru, and reports suggest that M. Sasikumar will play the lead actor. Sasikumar will play a suspended cop who gets intertwined in a complex game of trust and deceit with the mafia. This movie is expected to be gritty and pretty hardcore and Jiyen seems to be the perfect director for it. Opposite Sasikumar will be Manasa Rathakrishnan, who had previously worked with Jiyen on Tiyaan. Jiyen is co-directing the movie with his brother Jiyesh Krishnakumar and Jiyen is also the writer of the story.
