Fresh from the release of Sarvam Maya, the actor minced no words as he criticized the producers’ council for underplaying the success of small movies. Nivin Pauly mentioned that every industry has its ups and downs, but there was no need to make such a report public. He also questioned the motive behind such a questionable report.

The actor is not completely wrong either. While Malayalam films didn’t hit the jackpot like its counterparts from Hindi or Kannada cinema, the small budget movies delivered bigger returns. Their biggest blockbuster of the year, Lokah, was made on a budget of merely 30 crores.

Besides, Nivin Pauly just broke the box office drought of six years with his recent release Sarvam Maya. Although the collections are not earth shattering, yet the actor can finally claim a box office success after six years, since the budget of the film is less than 5 crores! This is even more ironic, since the film has pummeled Mohanlal’s big scale spectacle Vrusshabha on its home turf!
