He was born in 1938, Pazhayannur, Kerala, India, and died on 12 February 2011, Wayanad, Kerala. Vipindas is the son of Pallippatta Sankaram Nair & Lakshmi Amma. He didn't have any formal education in photography. Later he collaborated with Veteran director I.V.Sari and several other directors including, P.A.Basker, K.Madhu, Joshi, Bharathan, Padmarajan, Hariharan & Fazil. Some of his television serials include Krishnakripa Sagaram, Swamy Ayyappan, Kadamattathe Kathanar, and Vikramaditya. He also worked on making a documentary at an ashram run by Sunil. He received several awards such as The Kerala state film award (Manimuzhakkam) & National award. His last film was “Thathwamasi,” directed by Swami Viswa Chaithanya. Vipindas lived in Sreenadha Ashram at Lakkidy and later shifted to the house of K.V.Vijayan at the charity, where he practiced yoga, naturopathy & meditation. He spent his last days as a saint after meeting a sanyasi in Tibet in one of his journeys across the globe.
