Karibasavaiah is an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Kannada films. He also tested waters in the theater. Born on 1959, he has around 120 flicks to his credit. His debut film is Undo Hodha, Kondu Hodha during the year 1992. Karibasavaiah is one of the fewest actors of Indian cinema who made a mark in films though he is dark in color. Karibasavaiah’s notable flicks include Janumada Jodi, Kotreshi Kanasu, Mungarina Minchu, Galate Aliyandru, Police Story 2, Yaarige Salute Sambala, Ullasa Utsaha etc. 

Hailing from a Kuruba Gowda family, Karibasavaiah imbibed Kuruba Gowda arts such as Dollu Kunitha, Kamsale and Harikathe. He also tested waters as an assistant in a laboratory before venturing into cinema. He had a stint with television serials like Doddamane. Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, a director, was instrumental in the success of Karibasavaiah in Kannada cinema. He was also very helpful to Karibasavaiah during his final stages of life. 

Karibasavaiah never intended to endeavor in the theater. He used to perform at street play. His performance in Kattalanu Trishula Hidida Kathe was very much appreciated. Later there was no looking back. He also has a State Award to his credit. This was given to him for the 1994 flick Kotreshi Kanasu, directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. 

Karibasavaiah was thrown to depression owing to the suicide of his daughter. Karibasavaiah has tried his luck as a stage, cinema and television performer. He has a spontaneous style of acting. His onscreen chemistry with famous actress Umashree proved successful and they went on to work together in various flicks. His last endeavor in films is the 2013 flick Belakinedege. 

Karibasavaiah had expressive eyes and that acted as a favor for him as far acting is concerned. He is called fondly by his friends as Kariya or Karibevu. He used to laugh at himself and that was a glaring proof of his sense of comedy. He even sportively mentioned his name as Black Bull Father to a foreigner. When Karibasavaiah was 50 years old his buddies and fans conducted a show named Kariya we love you. Karibasavaiah was a simple person.

Born on 19th May 1938, Girish Raghunath Karnad is a multi-faceted artiste; he is not only an actor, but also a writer, director and playwright. He has mainly worked in South Indian films. He was awarded the Jnanpith Award during 1998; this award is the highest literary recognition in India. Girish Karnad has been working on plays for around 40 years. His subject of interest is mythology and history. He has also done translation of his plays into English language. Another play of his, Tughlaq, made Karnad as one of the worthy playwrights to look out for. Girish Karnad is most prominent in Hindi and Kannada industry. He has Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan to his credit and he is also the proud recipient of 4 Film Fare awards. Karnad has worked in Hindi movies including Godhuliand, Utsav and Pukar. His film titled Kanooru Heggaditi received critical recognition. It is the adaptation of a novel of Kannada writer. Girish Karnad had donned various roles in his career and he adopted writing as a full-time career for some time. He is known for his narration in the famous audio book series for children, Karadi Tales. He has also voiced Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in the audio book “Wings of Fire”. Girish Karnad has got international acclaim as a playwright, actor, director, poet, translator and critic. His strong point as a playwright is that he tries to establish a link between the present and the past. And in fact, he has indeed gained the acclaim that he truly deserves.
