Kamlesh Kunti Singh

Kamlesh Kunti Singh is a famous Indian director, screenwriter, and short-story writer. He was born on 11 July 1969 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. However, he grew up in Kolkata. His mother is Smt. Kunti Devi and his father is Shri Manager Singh. Kamlesh’s father worked as a Customs Officer. He has two elder sisters, Kanti Singh and Kamini Singh. His ancestors used to live in a village named Aruwan in the Siwan district of Bihar. Kamlesh inherited his story-telling skills from his uncles through their experiences with the world, and they also taught him the basics of farming and cattle-raising. Kamlesh did his schooling at St. James’ School of Calcutta. He was an excellent debater during his school days. He also wrote many plays for the Cultural programs in the school.

Later in college, he joined a Theatre Group named Rangakarmee, where he acted in plays like Lok-Katha, Mahabhoj, and Holi. Kamlesh worked as an assistant director and as a writer in Sonex. It was a production house run by Jochchhon Dastidar. He learned the art of direction and screenwriting from there. Saare Char was his debut film which he directed. He has written award-winning movies like Jhalki (2019). The movie was awarded the Best Original Screenplay at Boston International Film Festival and the Best Screenplay at Los Angeles International Independent Film Awards (IIFA).
