Kavita K. Barjatya, the daughter of Rajshri Productions’ managing director Kamal Kumar Barjatya rose to popularity with her first TV serial Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki. The serial completed 1,000 episodes and is the sixth longest running serial in TV industry. She is an expert Kathak dancer, but had never become a choreographer in films or TV serials. However, she choreographed a few dance sequences for Pyaar Ka Dard Hai serial, which was aired on STAR channel.
Rajshri Productions may be well known for its films, but Kavita took her initiatives to capture small screen and decided to spearhead Rajshri’s television division.
She is also a vocal singer who had performed various live stage performances. Kavita is remembered best for giving television entertainment the most cataclysmic turn ever. She began with family dramas like” Woh Rehne…..” and produced many more serials that went on air, including “Pyaar Ke Do Naam”, “Ek Radha Ek Shyam’’ (Star Plus channel), “Pyar Ka Dard Hai Metha Meetha Pyara Pyara’’(Star Plus), “Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Angan Hoga’’ (Sahara One channel) etc.
She is also the granddaughter of the legendary film producer
Tarachand Barjatya
, who founded Rajshri Productions in 1947, which gave hits like ‘
Dosti
’, ‘Chitchor’ and ‘ Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Rajshri has given many successful stars in Bollywood and they include
Rakhee Gulzar
, Sarika,
Zarina Wahab
and even Salman Khan.
The queen bee of TV production house Kavita had a brief marriage, but the marriage was a failure and she continued on building her career again. She had shifted to filmmaking and produced a detective thriller under the Rajshri Productions banner which had a release in April 2014. In due course of time, she may direct a movie as well.
