Thoi Singh, full name Khangebam Thoi Singh, is an Indian professional Footballer. He plays as central mid-fielder for Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League. He was born on 5th October 1990 at Thoubal, Manipur, India. Thoi started his career playing for his state, Manipur. He represented his state in a National Level under-16 sub-junior trophy, Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy. In 2006, Thoi signed his first professional contract with Chennai-based Indian Bank to represent them in the I-League 2nd Division. Thoi may lack a strong physical side of a footballer but, he is known for his speed and tenacity on the field which makes him an skillful ball-winner in the middle of the park. In 2007, he signed a three-year contract with Maharashtra-based (now defunct) Mahindra United.
The winning goal in the final of the 2008 Durand Cup against Churchill Brothers was the highlighting in the Mahindra tournament. In 2010, Thoi joined Goan-based Salgaocar for the 2010-11 season where he won the league though only appearing 8 times and scoring once and was mostly used as a squad player. While United Sikkim gained promotion, Thoi’s services were recruited by newly formed Mumbai Tigers, then known as Dodsal FC for the 2013 I-League 2nd Division. In 2012, Thoi scored against Army Red in their first professional game at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi in the 2012 Durand Cup.
Thoi reached the final in the tournament by scoring twice but were beaten 3-2 on penalties by Air India. Thoi was then picked up by another newly formed Bangalore based team Bengaluru FC for the 2013-14 I-League. He continued with Bengaluru for another season by winning the 2014-15 Federation Cup in the 2014-15 I-League as his team finished runner-up behind Mohun Bagan. Thoi was bought by Chennaiyin FC during the 2015 Hero ISL auction and has been with the Marina Machans since then.
