Geet Sriram Sethi is an English Billiards and a snooker player born on 17th April 1961 in Delhi. He was brought up in Ahmedabad. He is the co-founder of Olympic Gold Quest to promote sports in India. He was the one who dominated the English Billiards in the 90s. He won the amateur World Championships thrice and won the professional level six times. His first big event in the English Billiards happened in 1982 when he defeated Michael Ferreira to grab the Indian National Billiards Championship title. Although its name makes people think it is one of the National level games, it is originally an international championship. Geet won the NBC title for four continuous years, from 1985 to 1988 and then in 1997 and 1998.

In 1985, he won the IBSF World Amateur Billiards Championships, playing against Bob Marshall. The final round was eight-hour-long. In 1987, he won the ACBS Asian Billiards Championship along with IBSF World Amateur Billiards Championships. In 2001, he grabbed one more World Amateur Billiards title. Besides this, he is also an Indian National Snooker Champion from 1985 to 1988. In 1992, he made a world record in English Billiards. He took the Break point of 1276 in 80 minutes and it is by 3 pot rule. It was also considered as the highest break in 50 years. He grabbed the titles in 1993, 1995, 1995 and 2006. In the quarter-finals of the World Pro Championship held in 2006 at Prestatyn in Wales, Geet won David Causier and met Chris Shutt, the World Pro Champion in the semis. In the final, he faced Lee Lagan and it took five-hour for him to grab the title. England’s Mike Russell is always considered as Geet’s Arch Rival. Geet Sethi grabbed a gold medal in doubles in English billiards at the 13th Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1998 and the same year, he grabbed a silver in the single category. At the 14th Asian Games held in Busan, South Korea, in 2002, he won a silver medal in doubles and a bronze in singles.

In 2006, the 15th Asian Games was held in Doha, Qatar and he won a bronze medal with Ashok Harishankar Shandilya. He was honored with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna for the year 1992-1993. In 1986, he received Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian awards in India. In the same year, he was honored with Arjuna Award. In 1993, he received KK Birla Award. Geet Sethi is married to Kiran Bir and they have two children, Raag and Jazz. In 2005, he penned an autobiographical book, Success Vs Joy.
