Paulami Mazumder

Paulami Mazumder is a singer and actress working the Bollywood industry. Paulami had an interesting journey in the world of Bollywood, she was pursuing mass media journalism and had absolutely no plans to enter the world of acting or singing. In an interview she claims that it was due to certain luck, that she tried to be a journalist but failed, and yet became an even more successful singer. She comes from a very well off family, her dad is a chartered accountant and her mother is a teacher and most of the people in her family are in the education services.

She talked in an interview about becoming a singer and a rockstar because she has n stage fear, it was when she was in junior kindergarten when her mother made her perform a 3 paged speech in front of the entire school. That one instance is when Paulami lost all of her stage fright. This sparked a performance bug in her mind, she started participating in inter-school and intra-school dance, singing and acting competitions. She would win prizes and awards for her talents. Later, during the height of popularity of Indian Idol, Paulami participated in Nasik Idol, when she was still studying in 12th standard.

And due to her immense talents she won the competition. It was then when she realized that she does have the confidence to go on and pursue a career in singing. Later when she couldn’t make it as a journalist, she followed her passion and well enough started making great music. She has released songs like Dimple Wali Girl, Tu Mera Bhai Hai and My Name Is Sheela.

She has also participated in shows like MTV Roadies, Channel V’s Dare to Dare, UTV Bindass’ Big Switch, Dada Giri and Dare Trap. Right now she has a very successful live musician singing career where she performs in weddings, events, functions and concerts. She has performed live shows for Yamaha, Vodafone, Airtel, Microsoft, Raymond and Ambuja Cement. The way Kishore Kumar has literally done everything from singing, acting, directing, producing, music direction and music composing, that is what Paulami hopes of emulating one day.
